6 to 8 lbs --------------------------- 3 to 3 1/2 hours
8 to 12 lbs -------------------------- 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours
12 to 16 lbs ------------------------- 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours
16 to 20 lbs ------------------------- 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 hours
20 to 24 lbs ------------------------- 6 1/2 to 7 hours
This timetable is based on cold and/or completely thawed turkeys and preheated ovens.
Time will be slightly less for unstuffed turkeys.
For prestuffed turkeys, follow package directions. Do not use timetable.
For best results, insert a meat thermometer in turkey thigh muscle or breast; internal temperature when done is 185F.
If meat thermometer is not used, 30 minutes before end of cooking, move drumstick up and down. If done, the joint should give readily or break.
