Applesauce Loaf Cake

Preheat oven to 350F
Grease a 9x5x3" loaf pan. Line bottom with waxed paper or dust lightly with flour.
1 3/4 cups pre-sifted Monarch soft wheat flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup unsweetened applesauce

Sift together flour, salt baking soda, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg.
Cream shortening.
Blend in, beating until light and fluffy, sugar.
Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Stir dry ingredients into creamed mixture alternately with applesauce.
Make 3 dry and 2 liquid additions, combining lightly after each.
Turn into prepared pan.
Bake for 55 to 65 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched.
