Date Squares

2 cups oatmeal
1 cup butter
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 cups flour
1 cup brown sugar

Filling:
1 lb. dates
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
Juice of 1 lemon

Mix first 5 ingredients to crumbs.
Pat half on well greased pan then put in the filling.
Pat the rest of the crumbs on top and bake for 20 minutes or until brown.

Filling:
Boil until smooth.
