When the water is on full blast the sink is blocked and the water runs down very slowly. I found a product in the supermarket with acid to break down grease and clogging particles. It doesn't seem to work. Also when I pour boiling water the sink makes growling noises. What other simple tricks can I do without a plumber (I can't afford one right now) Thank U :)

Snake out the line, sounds like a partial clog somewhere. Use an industrial strenght drain opener and go to town on (all) the drains in the house, as your main may be clogged. Use a toilet plunger over the sink drain: just fill the sink high enough so there's a few inches of "standing" water, then go to work with a plunger for several minutes.

Borrow a pair of adjustable pliers and remove the drain trap under the sink. Most problems can be resolved from simply cleaning out the trap. make sure you have a bucket under the trap before you remove it. good luck.

just add some drain cleaner containing "lye" . once you get the water moving, pour some boiling water down the drain to dissolve any grease. you could also use plain ol bleach to dissolve any hair that might be contributing to the problem. a drain maintenance procedure would be to add some baking soda(about 1/2 cup) followed by some boiling water,(about a gallon or so), use this once the problem has been resolved. worse case you will have to use a pair of plumb pliers to remove the trap under the sink, use a pail to catch any water (there will be some, guaranteed)....do this as a last resort

If you've got a double sink with a garbage disposer on one side here's a trick that frequently works. Start running water in the disposer side and block the drain in the other side. When you've got some water in the disposer side turn it on. The disposer will act like a pump and most of the time it will shove the clog through. Be sure to follow up with something to dissolve the clog OR run a few sinkfulls of water to flush it out to the city/county system.
