Buttermilk Spice Cake

2 1/4 cups/300g/10oz flour
1 cup/225g/8oz sugar
1 ½ tsp/7.5ml bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp/5ml baking powder
pinch salt
1 tsp/5ml ground cinnamon
½ tsp/2.5ml ground cloves
½ cup/l00g/4oz butter, melted
1 1/2cups/350ml/12fl oz buttermilk
2 eggs
Serves 6
1-Sift the dry ingredients together. Add the butter and buttermilk and beat the mixture until it is
smooth. Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan measuring approximately 8in/20cm.
Bake at 350F/ 180C/Gas 4 for 40 minutes.
