It is the time of year that gardeners have a bountiful supply of green tomatoes, the Chow chow has been made and the chutney is in the jars and still there are more green tomatoes then you know what to do with. Try making a pie, yes a pie!, Easy to make and very good.

Make the dough for a 9 inch pie made..bottom and top

In a bowl mix

¾ cup of brown sugar
2 heaping tablespoons of cornstarch
½ teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon each of nutmeg and cinnamon
mix well together.

Line a 9 inch pie pan with pastry, put half of the sugar mixture over bottom crust, fill with thinly sliced green tomatoes (just like you do for a apple pie) put the rest of the sugar mixture over the tomatoes, dot with butter put on top crust and crimp to seal, bake just like you do for an apple pie, allow to cool before cutting if you cut before the juice has time to set up it may be runny.
My family and friends say it is even better then an apple pie.
