Fruit and Nut Spread (for bagels and toast)

1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup chopped dates, snipped
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
Servings: 8
In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth and fluffy. Stir in dates and walnuts. Makes about 1 1/2 cups.

Variations
Stir in one of the following ingredients along with dates and walnuts:

Apricot: 1/4 cup snipped, dried apricots
Cinnamon: 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Pineapple: 1/4 cup well-drained canned, crushed pineapple
