Scalloped Potatoes

3 cup Milk
2 cup Cream
½ cup Butter
3 large Potatoes

Slice the peeled and washed potatoes into 1/8 rounds and spread them in a well buttered gratin dish just large enough to hold them in a 1/2 - 3/4 layer. Sprinkle the potatoes with the salt and pepper to taste. Bring the milk to a boil and add 1 cup heavy cream.

Stir the mixture carefully to combine the liquids. Pour the milk over the potatoes and slice 1 stick 1/2 cup butter over the potatoes. Bake in a preheated, moderately hot ,375f, oven, adding 1 cup more heavy cream, 1/4 at a time, every 30 min, for 2 hrs. Bake the potato 30 mins more, or until the liquid is absorbed and the potatoes are golden brown.
