Basic Sweet Dough

1 cup milk
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tsp. salt
3/4 cup cold water
1/4 cup shortening, butter, or margarine
1/2 cup warm water
2 tsp. white sugar
2 pkgs. or 2 tbsp. yeast
2 eggs, beaten
7 cups all-purpose flour

Scald milk, stir in sugar, salt, cold water and shortening.
Measure warm water in large bowl, stir in sugar then yeast.
Let stand for 10 minutes.
Stir in warm milk mix, eggs and 3 1/2 cups flour.
Beat well.
Mix in rest of flour, knead and let rise covered in a warm place.
Bake in loaf pans at 375F until brown.

*This dough is perfect for making cinnamon buns.
