Filling:
1 chocolate cake mix
40 caramels
1 can Eagle Brand milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine

Topping:
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans

Mix cake mix as directed on package.
Grease and flour bottom and sides of a 9x13" pan.
Fill bottom of pan with 1/2 cake batter and bake in preheated oven at 350F for 15-20 minutes.
In top of a double boiler, melt the caramels, then add Milk and butter.
Evenly spread caramel filling on cake.
Cover filling with remaining cake batter.
Sprinkle the tip with chocolate chips and pecans.
Bake for an additional 15 - 20 minutes.
