Waxpaper, and grease loaf pan.
Preheat oven for 350*F.
Boil, and drain raisins. Set aside.
2 cups brown sugar,
1/2 cup shortening,
2 cups water,
1 lb. boiled raisins,
1 tsp. cinnamon,
3 cups flour,
2 tsps. baking soda,
1 tsp. salt,
1 tsp. nutmeg,
1/2 tsp. cloves,

Mix together all dry ingredients. Set aside.
Cream shortening. Add brown sugar gradually.
Mix creamed mixture, and water gradually to dry mixture.
Add raisins.
Pour into loaf pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until cake tester comes out clean.
