Cherry Top-Over Cake


Heat oven to 350F. Pour 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling into ungreased baking pan, 9x9x2". Heat in oven about 5 minutes. Prepare 1 pkg Betty Crocker white or devils food cake mix as directed on package.

Pour half the batter (about 2 1/2 cups) evenly over cherries in pan.* Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. While warm, cut into squares and invert into dessert dishes. Top with whipped cream.

*Pour remaining batter into round layer pan, 8 or 9 x 1/2". Bake as directed on package.
