1 cup margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup crushed candy canes
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
2 tbsp. sugar
3 1/2 dozen
Beat together butter and sugar until fluffy.
Beat in egg, vanilla and peppermint extract.
Combine flour and salt.
Stir into creamed mixture.
Wrap dough in wax paper and chill 1 hour.
Mix candy cane with white sugar.
Roll 1 tbsp. dough on candy mixture and roll to 6" rope.
Place on gresed baking sheet and curve one end to form handle of cane.
Bake at 355F for 12 minutes or until browned.
Cool on racks.
