1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 cup stirred but unsifted all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 cups coconut
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt

Mix shortening and sugar until pale and creamy.
Add eggs and vanilla.
Add remaining ingredients and beat to blend evenly.
Flatten in a 10 1/2x15 1/2x1/2" pan.
Bake @ 350F.
Watch carefully, or edges will burn.
Cool in pan.
