Thread: Hard Sauce

    Hard Sauce

    8 ounces butter
    2 tablespoons boiling water
    19 ounces powdered sugar
    1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
    Yield: 3 1/3 cups
    1. Cream butter on medium speed until soft and fluffy.

    2. Add water and continue to cream until very light.

    3. Add sugar gradually. Continue creaming. Add lemon juice. Place in refrigerator to harden.

    Notes: Serve with Christmas Pudding, Baked Apples, or Peach Cobbler.


    Cherry Hard Sauce. Add 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries.

    Strawberry Hard Sauce. Omit lemon juice and water. Add 3/4 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, chopped.
