Perfect! Lightly golden squares with a dusting of icing sugar. Try the variation too.

1/2 lb. butter, softened (do not use margarine)
1/2 cup icing (confectioners) sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
Icing (confectioners) sugar
Makes 36 squares
Cream butter and icing sugar in medium bowl.
Mix in flour, baking powder and salt.
Press into 9 x 9" pan.
Prick dough, using fork, every 2".
Bake in 350F oven for about 30 mintues until golden.
Cut into squares while hot.
Sprinkle with icing sugar.
Store in airtight container.

Variation:
Press into large ceramic shortbread mold.
Bake in 350F oven for about 30 minutes until golden.
Unmold carefully when cool.
Makes 1 large mold.
