Dill pickles

2 1/2 cups water
2 tbsp. pickling salt
1/2 tsp. mustard seed
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 cup white vinegar
5 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. celery seed

1/8 tsp. alum
1 clove garlic
1 qt. jar
Place dill, alum, garlic and cucumbers in sterilized jar.
Boil all other ingredients together.
Pour cooled liquid over cucumbers and seal.
Best after 6 weeks.
