Choose New York, because out of all of those states there is the most to do there. Though my aunt who is 67 loves Maine, her and her husband go to the winter wonderland place they have there.

I have vacationed in all the states you listed. I think your family would like Maine and New Hampshire.Travel the coast to Bar Harbor Maine. Take the "Cat" (The Cat is a high speed boat) to Nova Scotia and return the same day. Really nice day trip. Take back roads in Maine to Conway, NH. Nice scenary and neat places to stop.Good luck!

Spent your first day in Newburyport MA, its the birth place of the US Coast Guard. It has been restored the whey it looked 100 years ago and you can walk along and eat on the board- walk along the Merrimack river. Day 2 Portsmouth NH go to Strawberry Bank, tons of history. Eat at The Rosa great Italian food, or the Gas Light excellent micro brews and pizza. Day 3 Portland ME again all been restored and lots of history, would recommend ( i forget the name ) the restaurant that's a big converted boat in Portland harbor overlooking Casco Bay.On your way home stop at Lagos Lone Oak ice cream place in Rye NH on rt1 about 5 miles south of Portsmouth NH it will be on the southbound side.

Th Balsalms in New Hampshire is a resort on a lake in the mountains. Its up past Mount Washington about 30 miles from the Canadian border. I heard it was a really nice place. Bar Harbor in Maine is a great place. Th town is nice with plenty of shopping and good restaurants. Acadia National Park is on the island and you should definitely go there. Its a relaxing place with plenty to do for everyone.

Check out the Samoset Resort in Rockport Maine. It is right on the ocean with a beautiful lighthouse that is easy to walk out to. This resort has everything you could want. This is considered Mid-Coast Maine, there is plenty to do and see and all of these have great web sights. In about 2 hours you can drive up Route 1 to Acadia Nat. Park. Very beautiful scenery and easy to get around. Bar Harbor is the town at the entrance to the park and they have a great deal to offer families, and again they have a great web sight.
