1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
3/4 cup sugar
Pinch salt
2 sticks chilled unsalted butter, cut into bits

Basic Sweet and Sour Sauce
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup soy sauce
Thoroughly mix sugar, vinegar, ketchup and soy sauce.
Serve hot or at room temperature as a simple sauce or dip
to accompany vegetables or roast meats.
