Where can I purchase music and get the rights to use it on a reality contest tv show?

I am planning on going on a reality tv contest show and I wanted to use some music for my act. I want to know where I can purchase music and also get the rights to use it on TV.

email/ring the studio/agent and ask. you may have to sign a contract.but does it really matter that much if you don't have the rights?
