Chocolate Chiffon Pie

This is so velvety. Great flavor.

1 x 1/4 oz. unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup water
1 cup milk
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
2 tbsp. all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
4 egg yolks (large)
1 tsp. vanilla
4 egg whites (large), room temperature
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 baked 9" pie shell
Grated chocolate, for garnish
Makes 1 pie
Sprinkle gelatin over water in medium saucepan.
Let stand 1 minute.
Add milk.
Heat, stirring often, on medium until gelatin is dissolved and mixture starts to boil.
Mix next 6 ingredients together in small boll.
Add a little hot mixture and stir until smooth.
Pour into mixture in saucepan.
Stir until it boils and thickens.
Cool.
Beat egg whites and cream of tartar in mixing bowl until soft peaks form.
Add sugar gradually as you continue beating until stiff.
Make sure filling wil pile nicely before adding egg white mixture.
Fold egg whites into chilled filling.
Turn into baked pie shell.
Chill at least 4 hours before cutting.
