Chocolate Oat Balls

A no-bake confection. These can also be a drop cookie, if desired.

1/2 cup butter or hard margarine
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 cups quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup toasted chopped pecans or walnuts (see Note)
1 cup toasted finely chopped pecans or walnuts (see Note)
Makes 3 dozen cookies
Heat butter, sugar and milk in saucepan, stirring often, until mixture comes to a simmer.
Simmer 3 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Add rolled oats, cocoa and vanilla.
Stir well.
Add first amount of pecans.
Mix.
Cool slightly.
Shape into 1" balls.
Roll balls in remaining nuts.
Store in airtight container.

Note:
To toast pecans or walnuts, spread on baking sheet.
Bake in 350F oven for 5 to 8 minutes until "toasty" aroma.
