German Applesauce Meatloaf Aunt Matilda

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 pound ground pork
1/2 cup fine chopped onion
1 cup applesauce
1 large egg
1 cup bread crumbs, more as necessary to make loaf firm
3 tablespoons ketchup
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Servings: 6
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly oil a 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan.

2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. Place meatloaf mixture in pan.

3. Bake 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Let cool 10 - 15 minutes. Turn out of pan. Slice and serve.
