Heat oven to 475F. cut 1/2 loaf (1 lb) French bread into 6 to 8 1" slices Spread slices with soft butter or margarine; sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Reassemble loaf; wrap in aluminum foil. Heat 10 minutes.
