Blonde Fudge

3 cups white sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup light cream (10%)
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup corn syrup
2 tbsp. butter or margarine
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup or more walnuts

In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, salt, cream, milk, corn syrup and butter.
Stir with wooden spoon over medium heat until mixture boils.
Remove spoon and insert thermometer.
Boil to exactly 238F, but stir well during boiling.
Remove from heat, add vanilla and stir; then cool without stirring.
Beat until fudge loses shine.
At once add nuts and pour into 8"X8" square pan working fast.
Chill until set.
Cut into squares.
