Can I use whole milk plain yogurt in a soup recipe instead of heavy cream?

I have all the ingredients to make soup tuscana, except the cream! I do have whole milk plain yogurt though...can I use that? I would hate to have to make a trip to the store for just one thing if I can make a substitution.Thanks in advance

yeah i do the same thing sometimes, it will add a tart flavor though just be aware

Yes, just do not bring it to a boil after adding the milk/yogurt or it will curdle.

It is perfect but wait till the end to add it..say five minutes before serving and do not bring it to a boil.
