Dessert in a mug! Sweet, smooth, caramel-flavored coffee. Caramelizing the milk takes time, but it's definitely worth it.
11oz can of sweetened condensed milk
4 cups hot strong prepared coffee (see Note)
1/4 cup chocolate syrup
Serves 6
Pour condensed milk into 9" glass pie plate.
Cover tightly with foil.
Place in medium roasting pan.
Pour hot water into roasting pan until 1" deep.
Bake in 425F oven for about 80 minutes until milk is thickened and caramel-colored.
Remove pie plate from roasting pan.
Transfer caramelized milk to large bowl.
Add hot coffee and chocolate syrup.
Stir well.
Makes about 5 cups.
Spoon into 6 small mugs.
Note:
For extra-strong flavor, use espresso.
To Make Ahead:
Prepare caramelized milk.
Cover.
Chill until ready to use.
Place caramelized milk in medium saucepan.
Add hot coffee and chocolate syrup.
Heat on medium-low, stirring occasionally, until hot.
Do not boil.
Serve immediately.
