Going on a vacation that Im not looking foward to, bad hotel and not doing anything fun. How do I deal?

The hotel is all white and doesnt look very nice, were going to look at colleges, not fun, and its for two days. I am really like dreading this, how do i make the best of it?

Watch cable TV I guess or go the mall or something if there is one at the area.

attitude adjustment time. Get some flowers for your hotel room. Take some pics of friends and family to keep around. Bring some good music with you...and a good book. Does the college town have a tourism bureau? Find out from there about good restuarants, tourist attractions....get brochures and look up stuff on line....

You should be excited about looking for colleges. What a great opportunity. Focus on the purpose of the trip, not the accommodations. Learn as much as you can about the colleges - the curriculum offered, the student activities, the campus. The two days will go quickly.

Maybe you'll feel better if you stop calling it a vacation, cos it really isn't. It is spending two days, staying in a crappy hotel, getting things done. Just another one of life's chores. Get it over with (only two days). After it's done, take a real vacation somewhere else.
