1 can (29 oz) pear halves, drained
Rich Sour Cream Sauce (below)
1/4 cup rum, brandy, or sherry
1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
Place pears in shallow baking dish or pan, 8x8x2". Mix Rich Sour Cream Sauce and rum; pour over pears. Sprinkle with sugar. Set oven control at broil and/or 550F. Broil 6 to 8" from heat until sugar is melted. Serve hot or chilled.

Rich Sour Cream Sauce:
Blend 6 egg yolks and 1 cup sour cream; stir in 1 cup sugar. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture simmers. Continue cooking, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Remove from heat; cool. Store covered in refrigerator if not used immediately.
