Perfect Raisin Drops

Boil briskly 2 cups raisins with 1 cup water for 5 minutes. Stir in 1 tsp. baking soda after boiled, and set aside to cool.

Cream together:
1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
3 well beaten eggs

Add:
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
Sift together.
Add 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 cup chopped walnuts.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350F for 10-15 minutes.

Makes 6 dozen.

They stay nice and chewy.
