Rice Krispies squares

1/4 cup margarine or butter
1 pkg. (250g) regular marshmallows (about 35 to 40 large) or 5 cups miniature marshmallows.
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract (optional)
6 cups Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal
24 2-inch bars
In large saucepan over low heat, melt margarine. Add marshmallows; stir until melted and well blended. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Add cereal, stirring until coated. Using lightly buttered spatula, press into buttered 3.5L (13" x 9") pan. Cool. Cut into squares.


Microwave Directions:
In large microwaveable bowl, microwave margarine at HIGH 30 to 60 seconds or until melted. Add marshmallows, tossing to coat. Microwave at HIGH 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until smooth when stirred, stirring after 45 seconds. Stir in vanilla. Add cereal, stirring until coated. Using lightly buttered spatula, press into pan. Cool. Cut into squares.
