Ginger Lemonade

Pleasantly sweet and refreshing lemon ginger flavor.

3 cups boiling water
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup chopped, peeled gingerroot
3 cups water
1/2 cup lemon juice
8 whole cloves
Ice
Serves 8
Pour boiling water into large heatproof bowl.
Add sugar and ginger.
Stir until sugar is dissolved.
Cover.
Let stand for 2 hours.
Strain through cheesecloth into separate bowl.
Squeeze cheesecloth to extract liquid.
Discard ginger.
Pour liquid into pitcher.
Add water, lemon juice and cloves.
Stir.
Cover.
Chill for at least 4 hours until cold.
Remove and discard cloves.
Makes about 7 cups.
Pour over ice in 8 chilled medium glasses.
