How common is it for a woman to have a third miscarriage in a row?

I understand that 1 out of 4/5 women have one miscarriage, and 1 out of 20 have two miscarriages in a row. What is the known ratio for a third miscarriage? Thank you.

Women who have had more than one miscarriage are far more likely to have more. I believe the number is fairly close to the 1 out of 20. Usually when a woman has had multiple miscarriages it is due to an undiagnosed problem such as endometriosis.

I don't know the actually ratio. I had a miscarriage 1 year ago and asked my doctor lots of questions (probably drove her nuts). Basically she said that if you have three in a row they would test you for various things that could be wrong but sometimes there is no reason. Each pregnancy has something like a 20% chance of ending in miscarriage, as a matter of fact a lot of women have them and don't even know it. They just chalk it up to a late and heavy period. It is absolutely possible for a women to have numerous miscarriages (bad luck?) and then finally have a happy healthy baby.

I don't know statistically what the chances are but if you have had two miscarriages and you have a good doctor, you should know the reason by now. Unless it is a very early miscarriage there are indicators as to why this is a repeated occurrence. Often times, insufficient Vitamin E will cause miscarriage. Be sure to take your prenatal vitamins before you conceive and research the reasons for miscarriage instead of the statistics of how many times. That is an average and you are an individual.

1 out of 4/5 have one miscarriage? that's like saying 20 percent of the time....it works all the time... so what your saying is 1 out of 4/5ths of a female human being have a miscarriage? 1 out of 4 out of 5 people? AHHH! maybe i'm misunderstanding this but if my point is valid, just don't have kids at all, Having 3 miscarriages is either bad timing or something is wrong with that person genetically or something. It's not very common but it does happen.
