I have stage three tonsil / throat cancer. I am being treated with seven weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. I am 51 years old. I have no plans of having the very invasive surgery if the treatments do not work. I am not a smoker or drinker. How long would I have?

If you refuse treatment for throat cancer, you will probably just starve to death, which would be hardly any fun!Success rates in treating throat cancer with a combination of surgery, chemo & radiation are VERY high, why would not want the treatment? For simple "carcinoma in situ" of the throat, there is a 98% 5-year-survival-rate with the standard treatments...

Michael, I'm older than you and I have to tell you, treatment for this type of cancer is worth it. It's not a waste of time. My cousin who is older than I am but was around your age when he had surgery for throat cancer. He lost his voice box and speaks with a mechanical device and not hard to understand at all. He lives a full life and has no regrets. The alternative to no treatments are worse than the outcome of treatments. You are still young at 51, come on don't give up. Give life a shot. Gee, if my cousin can do it. anyone can. He's lived now for almost 20 yrs after aggressive treatment for throat cancer and he is so happy he decided to do it. The choice is yours. Unless you have a death wish, my wish is that you consider treatments.

Seven weeks of chemo and radiation.! That sounds drastic enough. I would fast, under supervision, so my body would spend its energy in healing, and avoid all mucus causing cow milk, yoghurt etc,.Meditation, relaxation and resful sleep, and checking your diet with a dietician as well would be a motivating step. And please, don't think of recovery and regaing your health as a battle. .As for products, teas, juices and berries promoted as miracle cures, beware, most are MLM networking schemes, and if the do improve, it's by faith in them, akin to faith in chemo. etc. My opinion, of course.Don't let anyone tell you how long you'll live, only my Grandpa knew that, because the Judge told him! All the best, Nvrgvup
