A deep red, cherry-flavored beverage -- just right for your Halloween party.
4 cups cranberry-apple juice
1 cup orange juice
1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice
1 cinnamon stick (4")
3 whole cloves
3 whole allspice
1 medium orange, sliced thinly (optional)
4 maraschino cherries (optional)
Serves 4
Measure first 6 ingredients into large saucepan.
Bring to a boil on medium-high.
Reduce heat to medium-low.
Simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat.
Strain through sieve into 4 cup liquid measure.
Discard solids.
Makes about 4 cups.
Place 1 or 2 orange slices and 1 maraschino cherry in each or 4 small mugs.
Pour cranberry mixture over top of each.
Serving Suggestion:
Cool this brew slightly when serving to children.
To make a special brew for adults, omit maraschino cherry juice.
Add 1/4 cup cherry brandy to strained, hot cranberry mixture.
Stir.
Pour into small mugs.
Garnish with orange slices.
