Blueberry Gingerbread

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. molasses
1 cup blueberries
3 tbsp. sugar

Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the beaten egg and molasses, and mix well.
Sift together the flour, salt and spices and add to the creamed mixture alternately with soured milk in which baking soda has been dissolved.
Add blueberries.
Pour the mixture into a greased and floured 9x9" pan...sprinkle 3 tbsp. sugar on top.
Bake at 350F for about 1 hour.
