2 cups pre-sifted Monarch soft wheat flour
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
3 to 5 tbsp. cold water

Measure flour into bowl.
With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in shortening until the consistency of coarse meal.
then cut in butter until the size of small peas.
Stir in water with a fork, 1 tablespoon at a time.
Add water only until dough almost clings together.
Wrap in waxed paper and chill.
Roll out and use as for Monarch Pastry.
