3 tbsp (45 ml) Unico Vegetable Oil
1 whole garlic clove
1 chopped onion
1 can (156 ml / 5.5 fl oz) Unico Tomato Paste
1 can (796 ml / 28 fl oz) Unico Tomatoes, diced
1 cup (250 ml) water
Salt and pepper
Heat oil, brown garlic and onion. Remove garlic. Add tomato paste, cook for 1 minute (no longer). Pour in tomatoes, water and season with salt and pepper. Cook on medium-low heat for 1 hour. Excellent over any type of pasta. Makes 5 cups sauce. Variations: Mushrooms, green pepper or meat may be added at the same time as the onion. Various herbs may be added for flavour: oregano, sweet basil or bay leaf.
