Preheat oven for 375*F.
Grease and flour 2 -- 8 inch cake pans.
1/2 cut butter,
1 cup sugar,
3 egg yolks,
2 cups flour,
3 tsps. baking powder,
1/4 tsp. salt,
3/4 cup milk,
1 tsp. vanilla.

Beat butter gradually adding sugar until mixture is light, and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
Sift together, flour, baking powder, and salt 3 times.
Add dry mixture alternating with milk to cream mixture.
Beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
Pour into 2 greased, and floured 8 inch cake pans.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until cake is golden brown.
