I have had wonderful experiences with expedia. I would however recommend looking into a vacation rental (instead of a hotel). Many times you will find much more comfortable (and large) accommodations at a lower price. Try http://mimbeo.com - http://homeaway.com - http://vrbo.com.Another tip - check out the best flight/hotel prices on expedia, then go to priceline.com and bid a lower price (much lower). You will often get a great deal. I have stayed in very-high-end hotels for budget motel prices using priceline.
I book flights fairly frequently through Expedia. Usually, I book hotels separately through other sites that I've been using for years. On the few occassions I've booked flight and hotel combinations through Expedia, I have never had a problem though.
It's good but I would search around a bit if I were you. there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
