What a name huh,grunt?Its pretty similar to a cobbler except you cook it on the stovetop, rather than the oven.So hey,i'm glad to make this kind of dessert & not have to turn on the oven & get the kitchen all hot!

Serves 6

4 c.blackberries
3/4 c.sugar
1/2 c.water
1 Tbls.butter
1 c.flour
1&1/2 tsp.baking powder
1/4 tsp.salt
2 Tbls.sugar
1/2 c. milk
2 tbls.butter,melted
sweetened whipped cream or ice cream,opt.


Combine first 4 ingredients in a 3 quart saucepan.Bring to a boil over medium heat,stirring occasionally.Cover,reduce heat to low.

Meanwhile,combine flour & next 3 ingredients in a bowl.Add milk & butter,stirring till smooth.Spoon dumpling mixture over berry mixture.Cover & simmer for 15 minutes(Do not remove cover.)Dumplings are done when a knife inserted in center comes out clean.Serve warm with sweetened whipped cream or ice cream,if desired.
