Creamy Tomato Soup

1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup cream
1 pint home canned tomatoes, undrained
1 teaspoon beef base
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon no salt added tomato paste
salt and pepper to taste

1.Combine milk, tomatoes and soup base.

2.Add cornstarch to a little water and stir to dissolve. Add to soup and mix

3.Process with blender or FP until smooth

4.Bring to simmer to thicken cornstarch

5.Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Note: our canned tomatoes are very low acid and sweet. If you use commercial acidic tomatoes you may want to add 1/4 tsp baking soda and a couple Tbl sugar
