1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups finely cut up dates
1 cup chopped walnuts
powdered sugar (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease an 8 inch square pan. Beat eggs until foamy. Beat in sugar and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir into egg mixture. Mix in dates and nuts.
2. Bake 25-30 minutes, until top has a dull crust. Cut into 2 inch squares. Cool in pan. If desired, dip in powdered sugar.
