Vary the basic recipe for Homemade Ice Cream to make any of these delightful flavors.
Chocolate Ice Cream:
Decrease vanilla to 1 tsp. and increase sugar to 1 cup. Stir 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate into hot milk mixture in saucepan.
Fresh Peach Ice Cream:
Decrease vanilla to 1 tsp. Mash 4 or 5 peeled ripe peaches to measure 2 cups; stir 1/2 cup sugar into peaches. After adding cream, stir in peach mixture.
Frozen Custard Ice Cream:
Decrease salt to 1/8 tsp and whipping cream to 1 cup.
Frozen Strawberry Ice Cream:
Decrease vanilla to 1 tsp. Thaw 1 pkg (16oz) frozen strawberry halves. After adding cream, stir in strawberries. Add few drops red food color if you wish.
Nut Brittle Ice Cream:
After adding cream, stir in 1 cup crushed almonds, pecans or peanut brittle.
Peppermint Ice Cream:
Decrease vanilla to 1 tsp. After adding cream, stir in 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy sticks. Add few drops green or red food color if you wish.
