These are real winners! A nice change of flavor from ordinary hamburgers.

1 lb. lean ground beef
2/3 cup finely chopped onion
3/4 cup finely chopped celery
7 salted soda crackers, crushed
1 cup hand-crushed corn flakes
1 large egg
1 tbsp. plum sauce
2 tsp. hickory smoke sauce (liquid smoke)
1 tsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. whole oregano
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. all purpose flour
6 hamburger buns, split and buttered
Condiments such as ketchup, relish, cheese, tomatoes, pickles
Makes 6 burgers
Combine first 5 ingredients in bowl.
Mix well.
Beat egg with fork in small bowl.
Add next 7 ingredients.
Beat well with fork.
Add to beef and mix in.
Shape into 6 patties.
Let stand in refigerator for at least 1 hour before cooking to allow flavors to mingle.
Fry or grill about 3 minutes per side until no pink remains in meat.
Insert 1 patty in each bun.
Let everyone help themselves to the condiments.
