1/2 C sugar
good pinch of salt
1tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 C raisins
3/4 C chopped nuts ( your choice)
1/2 C water with 2 Tbs corn starch
egg wash
Directions
Roll pastry dough out as thin as you can get it.
In a large sauce pan, melt butter.
Add apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt.
Cook on medium high heat until juices start to bubble.
Add raisins and nuts and continue cooking until apples are soft.
Add water and cornstarch and stir until thick.
Remove from heat and let cool.
If you want, you can melt some more butter and brush the puff pastry. It's not necessary but it adds another level of flavor.
Put filling along the long side of the sheet closest to you.
Start rolling and end with the seam facing down.
Put on sheet pan sprayed with cooking spray.
If it is too long for the pan, make it "S" shaped.
Brush with egg wash and sprinkle granulated sugar on the top.
Bake in a 375- 400 oven until golden brown.
Let cool a little and then slice it into 2-3 inch thick pieces. Yield: serves 0
Notes:
If you want to be really bad, serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Enjoy!
